Welcome to our Uno Tournament.
Our goal is to keep the event fun, fair, and easy to follow for everyone. Please read the rules below before playing.
➡️All players must follow the official tournament rules listed here.
➡️The event host or tournament organizer has the final say on all disputes.
➡️Good sportsmanship is expected at all times.
➡️Disrespectful behavior, cheating, or repeated disruption may result in disqualification.
➡️Each table will use one standard Uno deck.
➡️Cards will be shuffled before each game.
➡️Each player starts with 7 cards.
➡️The remaining cards are placed face down as the draw pile.
➡️The top card is turned over to begin the discard pile.
The goal is to be the first player to get rid of all cards in your hand.
Depending on the tournament format, the winner may:
➡️advance to the next round, or
➡️earn points based on remaining cards in other players’ hands.
Play moves in the direction set by the game.
A player may place a card that matches the color, number, or symbol of the top discard card.
If a player does not have a playable card, they must draw one card.
If the drawn card is playable, it may be played immediately.
If it is not playable, the turn ends.
Skip
The next player loses their turn.
Reverse
Play direction changes.
In a 2-player game, Reverse acts like Skip.
Draw Two
The next player must draw 2 cards and lose their turn.
Wild
The player chooses the next color.
Wild Draw Four
The player chooses the next color.
The next player must draw 4 cards and lose their turn.
This card may only be played if the player has no card matching the current color.
A player who believes a Wild Draw Four was played unfairly may ask the host for a ruling.
When a player has only one card left, they must clearly say “UNO” before the next player begins their turn.
If a player fails to say “UNO” and is caught before the next player completes their turn, they must draw 2 penalty cards.
To avoid confusion, the following common house rules are not allowed unless the host announces otherwise:
No stacking Draw Two or Wild Draw Four cards
No jump-ins/out-of-turn plays
No swapping cards unless using an official card that allows it
No custom rules from home games
Only the rules on this sheet will be used.
A round ends when one player has no cards left.
The tournament organizer will decide the winner by one of the following methods:
Option A: Last Player Standing / First Out
The first player to go out wins the round and advances.
Option B: Points
The winner receives points based on the cards left in the other players’ hands:
Number cards = face value
Draw Two = 20 points
Reverse = 20 points
Skip = 20 points
Wild = 50 points
Wild Draw Four = 50 points
First player to the set point total wins, if using point play.
Players must remain at their assigned table unless told otherwise.
Keep cards visible only to yourself.
Do not bend, mark, hide, or damage cards.
Outside coaching is not allowed during active play.
Any dispute must be brought to the host immediately.
If a rules question or disagreement comes up, pause the game and call the host.
The host’s decision is final.
Arguing after a final decision may lead to a warning or disqualification.
Prizes will be awarded based on the event format announced by the organizer.
Examples:
